Comfort. Style. Sustainability

Vastra, which means clothes in Sanskrit, is created specifically for the little ones. Our products are made from 100% organic cotton and are designed to be comfortable, practical and free from harmful substances.

The dyes we use are derived from natural elements likes flowers, fruits, barks, roots, leaves, pure herbs, red sandal and vegetables; infused with untrained water from streams, brooks, rivers and the rain. The fibres are hand twisted and turned into yarn, which is then used in the process of knitting or weaving. At the end of the process, they are coated with natural oils extracted from coconut, neem and basil, giving them anti-microbial and anti-allergen properties.

For the comfort of our tots, we have even removed clothing labels that may irritate their delicate skin. Since these are products that are naturally made and hand-crafted in many aspects, do expect variation from piece to piece and no two pieces may be identical. Also, slight imperfections in weaving and dyeing is part of the craft and nature.

The people who create some of our products are rural artisans, using traditional skills and practices handed down through the generations. Communities of highly committed women are also involved in the process and they are part of self-help groups, each comprising of about 12-15 artisans.
